This is Follow Jesus Radio encouraging you to have faith in Jesus Christ and follow Him daily. The title of this devotional thought is: Planted by the Streams.

We all desire to live a truly happy, peaceful, and meaningful life. But where do we find that lasting joy? The very opening verses of the Book of Psalms point us straight to the source.

Let's listen to God's Word in Psalm 1:1-3:
"How happy is the one who does not walk in the advice of the wicked or stand in the pathway with sinners or sit in the company of mockers! Instead, his delight is in the LORD's instruction, and he meditates on it day and night. He is like a tree planted beside flowing streams that bears its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers."
— Psalm 1:1-3 (CSB)

What a beautiful, reassuring picture of a life anchored in God. When we choose to turn away from negative influences and set our hearts on Jesus, we discover what real inner happiness is all about.

We find this happiness when we let His Word, the Bible, guide our everyday steps. Meditating day and night means we keep His teachings at the center of our minds throughout our busy days.

And as we walk with Jesus daily, we are bound to make mistakes. We stumble, we fail, and we sometimes revert to old patterns. But in His grace, we get to learn from those mistakes. We don't have to carry the weight of condemnation. Instead, we allow the Holy Spirit to use His Word to correct us and lead us forward.

This brings us to that incredible promise at the end of the passage: 'Whatever he does prospers.' In our human nature, we might instantly think of financial wealth or a life free of trouble. But God’s definition of prosperity is infinitely deeper. We truly prosper when God removes our sinful habits, breaks our chains of worry, and softens our cold hearts.

Real prosperity is enjoying the sweet, constant presence of God in the middle of our ordinary routines. Because our roots go deep into His grace, we don't wither when the dry seasons of life come. We remain green, fruitful, and absolutely secure in Him.

Let's choose to delight in His instruction today.

That's it for this podcast. Remember, Jesus loves you and is just a prayer away.
