This is Follow Jesus Radio encouraging you to have faith in Jesus Christ and follow him daily. The title of this devotional thought is: Unfailing Kindness.
"The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: 'I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.'"
— Jeremiah 31:3 (NIV)
What does it mean for kindness to be "unfailing"? In our human experience, even the best things can sometimes fail us. Our energy runs out, our patience wears thin, and human relationships can encounter limits.
But God’s kindness is entirely different. It has no breaking point.
In this beautiful verse, the focus is placed entirely on God and His active, pursuing heart. Notice who is taking the initiative. God is the one who appears. God is the one who loves. God is the one who draws. Long before you and I ever thought to reach out to Him by faith in Jesus Christ alone, He was already reaching out to us. His love is "everlasting"—stretching from before you were born into all of eternity—and He draws us not with anger or force, but with His gentle, unfailing kindness.
The ultimate expression of God's unfailing kindness is Jesus. God saw our brokenness, our struggles, and our distance, and instead of leaving us there, He sent His Son to rescue us. Every step of Jesus' earthly ministry, every teaching He shared, and His sacrifice on the cross was God actively drawing you close to Himself.
Today, let your heart rest completely in the character of your Heavenly Father. You don't have to earn His kindness or worry that it will run out. He is God, His love is eternal, and His hands are gently drawing you to Himself today.
That's it for this podcast. Remember, Jesus loves you and is just a prayer away.
