This is Follow Jesus Radio encouraging you to have faith in Jesus Christ and follow him daily. The title of this devotional thought is: The Precious Thoughts of God.
Psalm 139:17 (BSB):
"How precious to me are Your thoughts,O God,how vast is their sum!"
David is not marveling at his own thoughts about God—he is overwhelmed by God’s thoughts toward him. That’s the focus. The infinite, holy God actively thinks toward His people, and those thoughts are described as precious and vast.
This is staggering. God is not distant or indifferent. His thoughts are not random or shallow—they are intentional, wise, and full of purpose. For the believer, every one of God’s thoughts is rooted in His sovereign love and perfect plan.
Scripture confirms this:
Jeremiah 29:11:
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope."
God’s thoughts are not chaotic—they are directed toward the good of His people, ultimately conforming them to Christ (Romans 8:28–29). Even trials, confusion, and suffering fall under the vast sum of His wise decree.
But this promise is not for everyone universally—it is for those who belong to Him by grace through faith in Christ. Apart from Christ, a person remains under judgment. In Christ, however, God’s thoughts toward you are precious beyond measure.
So how should you respond? Stand in awe. Trust Him when you don’t understand. And remember that you are never outside the scope of His care or His plan.
If God’s thoughts are vast, then your confidence should be deep.
That's it for this podcast.Remember, Jesus loves you and is just a prayer away.
