Many False Prophets

This is Follow Jesus Radio encouraging you to have faith in Jesus Christ and follow him daily. The title of this devotional thought is: Many false prophets.

Matthew 24:11 (BSB):
"and many false prophets will arise and deceive many."

False teaching is not a rare threat—it is a promised reality. Christ Himself declares that “many” false prophets will arise, and “many” will be led astray. This is not accidental; it is a sober warning from the Lord who cannot lie.

Notice the scale: deception will be widespread. False teachers do not typically appear obvious or hostile. They often speak in the language of Christianity while quietly denying its core—salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. This is why Scripture repeatedly calls believers to discernment (1 John 4:1). Truth and error are not equal; one leads to life, the other to destruction.

At the root, false teaching attacks the authority and sufficiency of Scripture. When the Bible alone is abandoned, every distortion follows. That is why the safeguard is not personal feeling, tradition, or cultural approval—but the Word of God rightly understood.

So the call is clear:Know the Word deeply.
Test every teacher against Scripture.
Refuse anything that diminishes Christ’s finished work.

This warning also exposes the heart: people are led astray because they are willing to follow what appeals to them rather than submit to truth (2 Timothy 4:3–4). The answer is repentance—a turning away from self and a clinging to Christ alone.

The good news is this: Christ does not merely warn—He saves. The Good Shepherd preserves His sheep. Those who truly belong to Him will hear His voice and not ultimately be led astray (John 10:27–28).

Hold fast to Him. Truth is not an idea—it is a Person. And He does not lose His own.
