The Prayer Ends with God
Jesus teaches His people to pray with their eyes fixed not merely on their needs, but on God’s supreme rule and glory. The closing words traditionally associated with Matthew 6:13 declare: “For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.”This is the proper end of every prayer: not my kingdom, my power, or my glory—but God’s.
The kingdom is His. Christ reigns over every ruler, every trial, every unseen circumstance, and every moment of the future. Nothing can overthrow His purpose. The power is His. What is impossible for us is not difficult for the Almighty. He is able to save sinners, sustain His saints, forgive our sins, and keep us from falling. And the glory is His. Our lives, prayers, victories, and even our suffering exist ultimately to display the greatness of God.
When you pray, bring your real needs to the Father—but do not stop with your need. End with worship. Entrust every concern to the King whose authority never ends, whose power never fails, and whose glory will fill all things forever.
Remember: God is not a means to building your kingdom. You belong to His kingdom, live by His power, and exist for His glory.
