This is Follow Jesus Radio encouraging you to have faith in Jesus Christ and follow him daily. The title of this devotional thought is: Finding Peace in a Divided World.
Scripture Focus: Matthew 24:3-8 As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? What is the sign of your coming, and of the end of the age?”
Jesus answered them, “Be careful that no one leads you astray.
For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will lead many astray.
You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you aren’t troubled, for all this must happen, but the end is not yet.
For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, plagues, and earthquakes in various places.
But all these things are the beginning of birth pains.
Today, we are bombarded by headlines of global unrest. It is easy to feel a sense of mounting dread, but for the believer, these events are a sobering confirmation of Christ's words. Jesus used the metaphor of "birth pains" (or sorrows). In nature, birth pains increase in both intensity and frequency. As we see global conflicts and natural disasters escalate, we are reminded that these are not just random acts of chaos; they are the labor pains of a world waiting to be reborn.
The Bible warns us that as the time of Jesus’ return draws closer, things will go from bad to worse. Yet, Jesus gives us a command: “See that you aren’t troubled.” How do we stay untroubled? By faith in God's Son Jesus Christ and by looking past the pain to the "birth" that follows. Birth pains are not the end of the story; they are the necessary precursor to new life. The current wars are signs that this age is drawing to a close, pointing toward the moment Jesus returns in victory to rule with eternal peace.
For followers of Christ, the end of this age is not something to fear, but to anticipate. We hold onto three truths:
* Christ is Sovereign: God is still on His throne.
* Conflict is Temporary: The wars of this world have an expiration date.
* Peace is Eternal: Christ will establish a Kingdom where there is no more weeping or division.
When you see the news today, let it be a reminder to "look up." Your redemption is drawing near.
Let's pray: Heavenly Father, help us to keep our hearts fixed on You. We pray for those suffering in conflict today that You would meet their needs and give them renewed hope in Jesus. Give us all peace to guard our minds. We look forward with hope to Your return. Come, Lord Jesus. Amen.
That's it for this podcast. Follow Jesus Radio is here 24 hours a day to encourage you to have faith in Jesus Christ and follow Him daily. Remember, Jesus loves you and is just a prayer away.
