The Anchor of Our Faith

This is Follow Jesus Radio encouraging you to have faith in Jesus Christ and follow him daily. The title of this devotional thought is: The Anchor of Our Faith.

Scripture: “Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel.” — 2 Timothy 2:8 (NKJV)

In the midst of life’s noise, trials, and distractions, the Apostle Paul gives Timothy—and us—a singular command: Remember. It is easy to forget the foundations when the storms of life are raging, yet our strength is found in looking back at the Person and Work of Jesus Christ.

Paul highlights that Jesus is "of the seed of David." This isn't just a genealogical fact; it is a declaration of God’s faithfulness. It reminds us that Jesus was fully human, entering into our suffering, our limitations, and our history. He is the promised King who understands our weaknesses because He walked among us.

Then comes the victory: He "was raised from the dead." If Jesus remained in the grave, our faith would be futile. But because He is alive, we have a "living hope." The resurrection is the proof that death is defeated, sin is paid for, and the power of God is available to us today.

While Paul focuses on the resurrection in this verse, we cannot forget the path that led there. To remember the Raised Christ is to also remember the Crucified Christ. The Gospel is incomplete without the Cross—the place where His humanity (seed of David) met the ultimate sacrifice. The Cross is where our debt was settled; the Resurrection is where our life began.

Today, whatever you are facing, fix your eyes on the living King. Remember that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you.

Let us pray. Lord, help me to keep the Gospel at the center of my mind today. I remember Your sacrifice on the Cross and I celebrate Your victory over the grave. May the reality of Your resurrection give me strength for every task. Amen.

That's it for this podcast. Follow Jesus Radio is here 24 hours a day to encourage you to have faith in Jesus Christ and follow Him daily. Remember, Jesus loves you and is just a prayer away.
