Christian - forgiven - grateful

Welcome! My name is Richard Templin Hancock and I am a senior citizen who has found great peace in his old age in the forgiveness that Jesus Christ offers to sinners. I enjoy reading my Bible and recording short Devotional podcasts with the aim to encourage us all to have faith in God and follow His Son Jesus Christ every day.

The reason the world is so violent

"The reason the world is so violent"

1 John 5:19  We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.

When I read this today, it reminded me that the violent insanity that is in the world has a backdrop: the power of Satan working in those who are disobedient to God. It is a horrible thing to observe and experience. This is our spiritual reality. But wait! Jesus gives us the victory!

First Corinthians 15:57: "But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."

And there is more good news! Jesus said in John 16:33: "I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have oppression; but cheer up! I have overcome the world.”

And Second Corinthians 2:14 reads: "Now thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and reveals through us the sweet aroma of His knowledge in every place."

And Romans 8:37 assures us: "No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us."

But wait, there's more! Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."

And how about this: Deuteronomy 20:4: "For the LORD your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.”

Have faith. Trust God. Jesus will be returning soon, and we will be delivered once and for all at the glorious appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ!

First Thessalonians 4:16-18:
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with God’s trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first, then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever.
Therefore, comfort one another with these words.

Let's pray: Heavenly Father, help us to navigate around all the complexities of the times we live in. Help us not to despair but have hope in today's provision from you. Amen.
